Introducing Podaris
Podaris is an online platform for collaborative transport planning, engineering, analysis and stakeholder engagement.
What is Podaris?
Podaris is an cloud-based collaboration platform for transport planning, engineering, analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Podaris allows individuals or teams to perform a wide number of planning and analysis tasks on a simplified, cloud-based platform, including:
- Quickly and accurately planning ane editing potential routes and scenarios across a wide range of transport modes
- Rapidly quantifying travel time and accessibility, such as generating isochrones, exploring corridor frequency, and generating PTAL scores
- Working collaboratively, in real-time, across multiple disciplines, from a single source of truth
- Generating accurate models for detailed cost/benefit, ridership estimation and fleet size calculations
- Creating, editing, importing and exporting GTFS and TransXChange feeds with ease
- Engaging non-technical stakeholders in outreach and feedback
Why Was Podaris Created?
Podaris was created in the belief that transport planning should be simpler, faster, and more collaborative.
Traditionally, transport planning is done as a slow, incremental process, moving step-by-step from one discipline to the next, using clunky and highly-technical software (or worse, paper maps). At predetermined milestones, the work is reviewed by non-technical stakeholders (project managers, civil servants, and policymakers with direct oversight), before finally being submitted for review by external stakeholders. If changes are required, then the process starts over again.
Podaris changes this. Here's how:
- Podaris is fast: Podaris is a real-time collaboration platform. Rather than synchronising disciplines and stakeholders every few months or years, Podaris synchronizes everyone in milliseconds. We break the necessity for a slow, one-way flow of information.
- Podaris is easy to use: Anyone with a web browser, even those without a technical background, can use Podaris to plan networks and analyse them for accessibility and equity. This also ensures that critical information is never locked away in a silos due to inaccessible or incompatible software.
- Podaris is accurate and powerful: Podaris is optimised to that even complex calculations spanning large geographic areas can be done in as little as minutes. No more hand-drawn isochrones with bottle caps, no more guessing at how a network change impacts end users.
Why use Podaris?
Podaris enables workflows that planners could only dream of decades ago.

Podaris helps you to plan and analyse transport projects more accurately, rapidly, and transparently than ever before. Podaris can be used from the earliest stages of project feasibility planning to the very last stage of accessibility analysis of a completed project.
It has been used for everything from city-scale optimisation of transport networks, Bus Service Improvement Plans in the UK, and even transport planning within campus developments.
If you have an application that would benefit from Podaris' real-time collaboration technology, then please let us know!
