Importing Services from Managed Networks

Import the latest bus or rail network data for your area of analysis directly within Podaris, without the need to source any data externally.

The Managed Networks import option enables you to import the latest bus or rail network data for your area of analysis directly within Podaris. Rather than needing to source a GTFS or TransXChange file of your required network, this feature in Podaris ensures you can quickly and easily get your projects set up with the networks you need.

The data available within the Managed Networks import options are sourced from three data sources:

  • Bus Open Data Service (BODS)
  • Traveline National Dataset (TNDS)
  • Rail Delivery Group (RDG)

To import a Managed Network:

  1. Open the Services panel and click Import Screenshot 2026-08-22 at 12.41.14 to open the asset library.
  2. Select the Managed Networks tab on the left sidebar.
  3. Click on the dataset card you want to import (BODS, TNDS, or RDG) to open its detail view.
  4. Set a geographical boundary: Draw a polygon or circle on the detail panel map, search for a named administrative boundary, or import a boundary file.
    • Note: A geographical boundary is mandatory for Managed Networks. The Import button will remain disabled until a valid boundary exists.
  5. Click Import in the bottom right to bring the data into your project.

Things to keep in mind

  • Copy-only: Importing from Managed Networks creates an editable copy of the selected services within your project.
  • Mandatory boundary: Because UK-wide bus and rail datasets are extremely large, you must define a spatial boundary before importing. Only features that intersect your boundary will be brought into the project.
