Types of Projects in Podaris

Podaris organises your work into six project types — each designed for a specific purpose. This article explains what each type is for and when to use it."

Plan Project

A Plan project is the main workspace for modelling transport infrastructure. Use it to draw routes, schedule services, run isochrone analyses, and collaborate with colleagues on a shared map. You can share this project with stakeholders or even the general public with Podaris:Engage.

Insight

An Insight project runs pre-built accessibility and travel time analyses against a transport network. It consumes Plan projects and Network projects as inputs rather than letting you draw infrastructure directly.

Network

A Network project stores a reusable transport network — routes, stops, and timetables — independently of any Plan project. Reference it from multiple Plan projects or Insight analyses without duplicating the data. You can share this project with stakeholders or even the general public with Podaris:Engage.

Dataset

A Dataset project stores a collection of geographical features (points, lines, polygons) with attributes. Import it into Plan project layers or use it as location inputs for Insight analyses.

Streets

A Streets project stores a custom road and street network. Attach it to a Plan project to override the default OpenStreetMap routing used for bus services, isochrones, and journey planning.

Tileset

A Tileset project stores a georeferenced image or third-party tile layer for use as a custom map background. Reference it from any Plan project as a visual reference layer beneath your infrastructure.
