Use it to check a scheme contains what you intended before you present it, to review someone else's edits, or to produce the "what changed" picture for a report. Select **Compare** from the toolbar. 2. Choose a **From view**, usually your baseline. 3. Choose a **To view**, usually the scenario you want to assess. 4. Click **Compare**. Leave the comparison with **Exit comparison**. **Note**: Editing is paused while a comparison is running. You cannot change your network while you compare. ### Reading the results Differences are drawn on the map and grouped in the panel into three collapsible sections, each with a count. - **Added**: present in the To view and not in the From view. - **Retagged**: present in both, with different attributes. Each entry names which attributes changed, so you can see at a glance whether a street was closed to traffic or merely resurfaced. - **Removed**: present in the From view and not in the To view. Entries cover both **links** and **junctions**, with a different icon for each. Select any change to zoom to it. One thing to expect: a link whose shape was edited appears as a **removed link plus an added one** rather than as a retag, because once the geometry changes it is no longer the same object. A scheme that realigned a road will therefore show more additions and removals than you might expect. ### Messages you may see | **Message** | **What it means** | | --- | --- | | Create another view to compare two alternatives. | The project has only one view, so there is nothing to compare it against. Create a scenario first. | | No differences between these built networks. | The two views point at the same network state. Usually it means the edits have not been rebuilt yet. | | Showing the first N changes. More changes may exist. | The diff was too large to list in full. Narrow the comparison to two closer versions. | | Some junctions are unavailable in older network data. Rebuild both views to include them. | One of the versions predates junction-level comparison. Links still compare correctly; rebuild both views to get junctions too. | | Couldn't load the comparison. Exit and try again. | The comparison data could not be fetched. Exit the comparison and re-run it. | **Tip**: Compare tells you what is different.
