The color-by-attribute feature for service paths enables efficient visual classification of routes according to custom route attributes.
The ability to effectively classify and visualise routes and services within public transport networks is crucial for understanding service patterns, analysing coverage, and making informed decisions.
The color-by-attribute feature for service paths makes this process intuitive and efficient. This feature allows you to edit the display settings of paths, colour-categorizing them according to a chosen route attribute. This feature also creates a legend for the attribute values on your map.
To color routes in your network by an attribute:
- Navigate to the display settings located in the control bar at the top of your screen. Clicking on the display settings icon will bring up the display menu.
- From here, select 'Paths' and scroll down to the 'Services' section
- Set the path color within the services section to be by 'Attribute'
- A further drop down menu will then appear allowing you to specify the attribute you wish to classify your routes by
- The edit attribute styling button can be used to customize the color scheme, set the legend title and toggle visibility.
Clicking the “eye” icon next to each class, toggles the visibility and allows you to make certain classes hidden. As a default, the “No value” class is hidden, meaning routes without a value for the selected attribute will not appear on your map.
Additionally, the display order of attribute classes is sortable. Classes can be dragged and dropped to control the order they are displayed in on the map and in the legend. This is helpful in cases where you encounter lots of routes overlapping one another.
