How to begin the GTFS import process
This guide will walk you through the process of importing GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) data into Podaris. Follow these steps to begin the import process:
Step 1: Initiate the Import Process
There are two ways to start the GTFS import process:
- Using the Services tool:
- Click on the "Import" button in the Tool Properties panel.
- Using the Services panel:
- Click on the upload button (cloud icon) at the top of the panel.
Step 2: Select Import Method
After initiating the import process, a dialog box will appear asking you to select an import method:
- Choose "GTFS" from the list of available options.
- Click "Okay" to proceed.
Step 3: Upload GTFS File
You will now see the GTFS file upload dialog. The system accepts GTFS feed files in ZIP format, with a maximum file size of 250 MB.
Step 4: Confirm Upload
Once you've selected your GTFS file, you can verify that you've selected the correct file, then click the "Import" button to begin the upload and import process.
After clicking "Import," Podaris will begin processing your GTFS data. The system will validate the file and prepare it for import into the Podaris environment.
Next step: Filtering Network Imports by Agency
Did you know you can now import GTFS files directly during Network set up?
GTFS files can now be directly imported into Networks during the Network set-up stage. This can be achieved by following the below steps:
- In the Podaris homepage, open the Networks tab and click "+ New Network"
- In the template options that open, rather than selecting a Blank template, select GTFS File
- Set your Default Mode, Privacy and Location settings as you normally would for a new Project/Network/Dataset. When these have been filled out, rather than being taken to your newly created project, you will then be presented with an Upload box where you can drag and drop the GTFS File you would like to import
- Finally you will be presented with all the usual GTFS import options - these are talked through in more detail in the next few steps of this article (see the next page in this article series: Filtering Network Imports by Agency)
- Finally, when all import options have been set, click Import. Your GTFS file will be processed and imported into your Network. You can then open and work within your Network as normal.
